I mean 10 Habits
RULES: People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 10 weird habits/things as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names.
1. I am always ready for a fight. And I mean always!
2. When I'm concentrating on something I block everything else out, and sometimes my mouth hangs open due to not paying attention to it.
3. I tend to count the things around me. (bricks, tables, sides of an object...)
4. I imagine my everyday situations to be like a plot from an adventure movie or novel. Rather than walking to the train station to go home after school, I'm on my way to face a great challenge and save the world.
5. When I cross a big road I tend to run, or at least speed walk
6. I make sound effects. For example: when i go around a sharp turn with my car. I go "de de de de deeeeee"
7. I'm very messy when it comes to rooms in my house.
8. I dance when I'm in my house and skip/sprint down hallways at school.
9. I sing in my car. (does this count? i think everyone does)
10. I secretly fear that the elevators at school won't open or will plummet. Only the ones at school.
I TAG anyone who reads this.

Lastnight I had a frightening and vivid dream about being in the sharp centre during a storm of epic proportions with fire in the sky and dark clouds. When I left the building, the school building across the street (the original building which was detached from the sharp centre for some reason) had been hit by a large meteor and had a gaping hole in it with bricks strewn about everywhere. It was a disaster!
This morning I checked my school e-mail account to find that Fall/Winter registration is on July 4 and the course listings are already posted up. I'm pretty happy right now and really excited. I've picked all of my courses (with the exception of clearing up a couple of confusing queries I have) and am really looking forward to next year. Looks like it could be a lot of fun (and a lot of work). Admin. are allowing 4th year students to choose a 2nd year core course as electives, so I'm almost positive I'll be signing up for Illustration 1 and 2. In addition I plan to take packaging design, motion graphics and editorial. I wonder how difficult it would be to change courses for winter semester during the fall. If I really like packaging I might try for level 2 in the winter.
I wonder how much time I'll have for work next year. I love my job, but I want to give my all to my classes. Hopefully I'll be able to achieve a good balance.

That is all...

Its true and a little hard to believe. Unfortunatly I've been giving myself a difficult time this semester over projects, as in I haven't been putting in enough to do the best I can do. I've passed all of my assignments thus far, but I'd like to do much better. I'm more creative than this and I know it. I've given myself a few half hearted peptalks throughout the semester but its time to kick myself in the but and get engaged with the work.
Heres the lowdown
5 projects 2 weeks 1 student
Organization will be key here. I've finally snapped my brain into a few good things today as far as those projects go. Now its time to initiate those good things and figure out the rest. Design is fun but its hard work. Distraction is the enemy.

This heavy snowfall has really thrown me for a loop. I wasn't able to make it to anevent I was going to go to lastnight and right now I really don't think I want to drive into Toronto tonight... Maura, if you're reading this, I'm really sorry if I don't make it but I promise to take you out for lunch next semester!
P.S. I hope you're feeling better from the other day!

I always seem to feel the need to journal when I'm comming to the end of things. Perhaps it just helps to organize my thoughts when I write them down. This time I am comming to the end of the semester. It is my 1st semester of my 3rd year at OCAD.
I have completed my final assignment for my core graphic design class. I have arachived my files and burned the work to CD for future reference. I have yet to print out the files (a job for monday) and mount them on presentation board (another job for monday).
I have a 12 page doccument to typeset/design for my Typography2 class.
I have an essay to write on two Kafka texts for Understanding Modernism.
I have business forms to plan and design for Business Practices.
I have a week and a half.
Mostly I am feeling elation over the results of my core class assignment. I am quite pleased with the results and will be using it as a piece for my portfolio. I feel as if I am finally beginning to make something out of myself. Slowly my designer being is emerging.

I've decided that I want to hang work in the artist's room at AN this year and perhaps get a table. I've been quite happy this semester to note an improvment in my drawing skills and may beable to be ready for AN this May. Perhaps I can convince a few of my friends to get tables too and we can encourage eachother.
I will make it my goal to complete at elast one sellable piece for the con over christmas holidays. We'll see how I do with that goal first.
Also considering creating a new costume for cosplay. One thought - Umi or Fuu (MKR) may come up with something better tho.

Some people are real assholes and have no respect for life. Tonight Rob and I spent the afternoon and evening in the city to celebrate our 3rd anniversary. After dinner and on the way to the Panasonic theatre to see the Blue Man group Rob pointed out a mouse running along the sidewalk. I have a soft spot for animals and exclaimed that it was cute. Just as those words left my mouth a foot descended with sharp accuracy extinguishing the mouse's life and leaving it in the form of roadkill to be pecked at by whatever comes along once the people retire to their beds. I was so angry... and sad at the same time. I wanted to track down the guy and plant my fist firmly in his gut but I was soothed by the thought that karma will one day come back to haunt him. Incase you hadn't deducted this by now, roadkill makes me shudder.

I challenged myself today, and I came through. My challenge was to keep my sketchbook out with me for the entire day. Its always in my bag but it tends to sit there and travel around rather than comming out and being enjoyed. So I began drawing at the GO station while waiting for my train, continued on the train, drew a bit in class, drew between classes and drew during my second class and on the way home. I managed to lave my mark on 9 pages. I think thats a record! They may not all be pretty drawings, but they're drawings and thats what counts.
My tutorial session this afternoon focused more on HTML and we broke into Dreamweaver. It was fun but I had a mini panic attack about my future. It was based on the fact that I have so much left to learn before I'm ready to be a designer... or whatever it is I'm going to be... Talking to a friend of mine really helped. She's an illustrator and she assured me she gets the same panic attacks I was describing. I just need to take it one day at a time and take up new challenges.
